Chevrolet Traverse Introduction:

The 2009 Chevrolet Traverse is a full-size crossover priced at MSRP: $29,215 – $41,975. It is perfect for larger families or those who like to holiday often as this model can comfortably seat eight passengers and can also haul a lot of cargo at the same time offers an outgoing appearance and personality of an SUV.

Body Style:

The 2009 Chevrolet Traverse is a large crossover SUV that is available in three trims viz. as base LS, mid-range LT, and top-of-the-line LTZ. However, e found that the exteriors were quite similar in all the three trim levels. The base model is very simply designed with the brand’s bow tie logo on the grille and projector type headlights on the front. The taillight is also perfectly placed at the rear corners but does not provide an appealing look. The exteriors are not too flashy or alluring. The interiors of this car are designed to be functional rather than beguiling the eyes. The dashboard offers a sweeping twin cockpit looks. The controls are well placed and easy to use. The interiors are made up of hard plastic which does not entice the interior cabin. Overall the exterior, as well as the interior looks, are quite practical but not appealing to the eyes.


The 2009 Chevrolet Traverse includes all the basic standard features that are available with all automakers.  The basic LS model includes features such as 17-inch wheels, automatic headlights, split-folding second- and third-row bench seats, full power accessories, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, OnStar, a six-speaker CD and MP3 player with an auxiliary audio jack and satellite radio. The LT model is further available in two packages the 1LT and 2LT. the 1LT includes all the features of the base model along with 18-inch alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, remote vehicle start, an eight-way power driver seat, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The 2LT package additionally includes features such as seven-passenger seating featuring second-row captain’s chairs, a rearview camera integrated into the rearview mirror, tri-zone automatic climate control, blue tooth, a 10-speaker Bose system, and rear audio system controls.
The premium LTZ model includes features of the 2LT model along with additional features such as 20-inch wheels, power front seats with driver memory settings, leather seating and a navigation system with real-time traffic. You can also add any of these features to your base model via optional packages.


The 2009 Chevrolet Traverse offers better performance than any other full-size SUV. They are well outfitted with a 3.6liter V6 engine that produces 281 hp and 266-pound feet of torque. The premium LTZ model offers 288 hp and 270-pound feet of torque which accelerates at a leisurely pace. The base model is also equipped with six-speed automatic transmissions with manual shift controls powered by front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.  We noted that the shifts very smooth and timely. During our test drive, we were very impressed with the cruising feature which was very quiet and impressive. This model is perfectly crafted with 20-inch wheels, good suspensions and quick steering response which offer a smooth ride even on the most imperfect roads. We found that 2009 Chevrolet Traverse offers a comfortable ride from zero to 60 mph in a little bit more than 8 seconds. The brakes were also very responsive which makes the Traverse feel sporty in spite of its large size. This model offers a better fuel economy in comparison to other similar vehicles. We found that the front wheel Traverse estimated fuel economy of 17 mpg city levels, 24 mpg on the highway and 19 mpg combined whereas the all-wheel-drive Traverse models estimated 16 mpg city levels, 23 mpg on the highway and 19 mpg combined.


The 2009 Chevrolet Traverse offers a new image to GMs interior quality.  This model is perfectly designed to offer a comfortable seating space for all its passengers. Whether you are seated on the captain’s chairs or a three-seat bench in the second row it provides complete comfort and convenience to all the passengers which makes it an ideal vehicle for long-distance travel. The third-row seat is also equally comfortable and can seat adult passengers with comfort unlike other vehicles of similar kinds where the third row gets congested and stuffy. This version also provides convenience to the passengers on the mid-row to move forward or backward up to four inches. The area behind the third row also provides sufficient space to store cargo, in fact, we found that the storage space was more than any other average mid-size sedan. The engine is also well collaborated and does not make much noise. The brakes and suspensions are blissfully good and assist in providing a very smooth ride even on unpaved surfaces. The interiors are also well designed taking care of all the smaller fine prints. The quality of the materials that are used is good but does not provide fineness.


The 2009 Chevrolet Traverse boasts of having all the necessary safety features. The safety features that are included are front-seat side-impact airbags and side curtain airbags for all three rows, antilock disc brakes, traction and stability controls. During the various tests conducted to check the safety ratings, this Chevy model scored a perfect five stars for its frontal- and side-impact and for its protection of occupants in head-on and side-impact collisions. The only safety problem that we depicted for the safety of the travelers was that it offers poor visibility as the view to the front corners is partially obscured by thick roof pillars which could be a hindrance while driving safely.


The 2009 Chevrolet is a practical family car with a large and sturdy frame. The main highlights of this Chevrolet car are that it offers comfortable seating for eight passengers, easy to drive in spite of being a large vehicle, it has smooth shifting transmission, the brakes and suspensions are commendable as they provide a smooth ride. The main drawback that we noted was that the exterior styling is very mediocre, and the heavyweight leads to leisurely acceleration.
